Trailblazers Gap Year is a programme designed to engage 6^th Form students and put them into situations that will stretch them in ways that the classroom cannot recreate.

The ‘Gap Year’ comes in two parts;

1) Taking part in a sponsored challenge

2) Using the funds raised on the challenge to cover the majority of costs on a ‘gap year’ programme.

Students will have the opportunity to choose from a portfolio of Christian managed, short-term programmes, with whom to spend their gap year placement.

Unlike our regular challenge events, part of the funds raised by the participants will pay for 50% of the challenge cost. A key aspect of the concept is to allow the students to become more reliant upon themselves, and less so on their parents. Although their fundraising efforts may well be reliant on their parents network, the emphasis is firmly placed on them raising the funds rather than simply asking for a cheque!

TISCA (The Independent Schools Christian Alliance') exists to link Christian teachers in all types of independent school in the UK and beyond. Part of its work is to spread information about opportunities for sixth formers and Gap year students in conjunction with Trailblazers and similar organisations.
