Rock UK Adventure Centres is pleased to announce the acquisition of Trailblazers Sponsored Challenges.  This exciting acquisition allows Rock UK to bring together the combined experience and expertise of adventure provision with expeditions, providing an opportunity to continue the adventure journey that people start at our centres.

Since 1998, Trailblazers has been running successful challenges to raise funds for relief and development projects in the UK and overseas. Through its challenges it has released over £2.5m into causes that transform lives across the world.

Mark Heasman, Chief Executive of Rock UK, said “This is such an exciting opportunity for our guests and our team at Rock UK.  There are so many ways to experience fantastic adventures and the acquisition of Trailblazers will allow us to provide worldwide adventure treks and holidays as well as the opportunity to support life changing causes in the UK and across the world.”

Rock UK Trailblazers will be run as a division of Rock UK that operates in both the UK and abroad with the same ethos and aims as the four centres that make up the rest of Rock UK.  This will result in the extension of Trailblazers to include:

•  Charity Challenges – Benefiting charity and other fundraising organisations
•  Adventure Holidays – All age adventures, summer and winter
•  Mini Expeditions – Trekking, watersports, climbing and biking
•  Adventure Projects – Overseas community projects supporting charitable initiatives
•  Adventure Training – Improve personal and technical skills, and gain instructor qualifications

Adventures for Life!

Newsflash June 09 - Mt Toubkal Challenge participant smashes
previous Trailblazers participant fundraising record!

George Ruston raised a whopping £29K for Hope UK on a recent sponsored challenge to summit Mt Toubkal the highest mountain in N. Africa. This fantastic achievement shatters the previous record of £15K and is great example of what can be achieved even in these difficult financial times. Well done George!!

George says:

‘I am really pleased that going on an adventure challenge has meant that Hope UK will benefit by more than £29,000 – meaning that they will be able to encourage even more young people to make drug-free choices. It took me right out of my comfort zone but I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.’

In total Hope UK raised over £45K between two participants; a great example of the impact running a sponsored challenge can make.

TRAILBLAZERS HITS £2,500,000!!!!!

We are delighted to announce that over £2,500,000 has now been released into life changing causes in the UK and overseas through Trailblazers Sponsored Challenges!!!

For Trailblazers, this is a wonderful achievement and one that we have been working towards for the past few years as we seek to bring relief and a future to those most in need.

On behalf of our Partner Charities and ourselves we would like to thank all the brave and adventure seeking participants who have sacrificially given up time and their own money to make this possible. Whilst we can help, it is the challengers themselves that have physically raised the funds. In doing so, they have made what seemed impossible, possible! Without their efforts so many would not have:

  • been able to provide food for their own family on an ongoing basis
  • a school building
  • access to life saving medicine
  • heating for sub zero temperatures
  • a sleeping bag just to make it through the night
  • been reunited with their families
  • received Bibles in their own language
  • access to HIV/Aids awareness projects
  • been able to die in comfortable surrounding and with dignity
  • homes to live in
  • food to eat, water to drink & a mattress to sleep on
  • had access to leadership training in the ministry
  • someone to tell them that although they might be abandoned by everyone else, there is a God who loves them.

And the list goes on…….

Aside from the funds that they have raised, our participants often act as honourable ambassadors of their beneficiary charities, informing many others about the work and the needs being address on our doorstep or further afield.

We are truly blessed to be involved in this work and continue to be blown away by the work of our partners and the commitment of our challenge participants. As we now aim to release our second and third million pounds, we hope that you also will want to get involved as Trailblazers continues to see lives changed!
